Dear Miss Dalrymple Hay,

You have heard by now that I have left Hong-

-kong, and I wish that you had never sent me there. Had I

remained any longer I would have been ill; as it is, I have not

been well since I left. I was not experienced enough for such

a long period of private work, and the only thing I could do was

to get away without making any bother. I had no one to advise me

as to what else to do, so I quietly left. I am suited for

Hospital work, and I believe Sir Allan Perry, Colombo, is going

to write you, and will give me a post, re-engage me at the

Hospital after he hears from you.

It is most necessary for me to get work, and

at once, so be good enough to consider that I am without friends

and no money in the Colonies, and Sir Allan Perry knows that I

can work the wards satisfactorily, if you kindly let him have

a satisfactory reply from you. I enclose Sir Allan Perry's

letter to you; kindly let me have it back.
